Quaid Azam Library:
The Quaid-e-Azam Library is a library in Bagh-e-Jinnah, a park previously known as "Lawrence Gardens ",
in Lahore, Pakistan .
The library is named after Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali
Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. The Quaid-e-Azam Library has a collection of more
than 100,000 volumes, both in English and Oriental languages (Urdu, Arabic
& Persian). Standard books on literature, science, history, reference
works, periodicals and literature for ladies and children have been acquired.
The library is divided into various sections dealing with English, Islamiyat,
Urdu, Arabic, rare books etc. Latest books on management, business
administration, technology and social sciences are being continuously acquired.
Special attention is being paid to the acquisition of comprehensive literature
on Islam and the Muslim world
Collections:
The Quaid-e-Azam Library has a collection of more than
100,000 volumes, both in English and Oriental languages (Urdu, Arabic &
Persian). Standard books on literature, science, history, reference works,
periodicals and literature for ladies and children have been acquired. The
library is divided into various sections dealing with English, Islamiyat, Urdu,
Arabic, rare books etc. Latest books on management, business administration,
technology and social sciences are being continuously acquired. Special
attention is being paid to the acquisition of comprehensive literature on Islam
and the Muslim world.The library keeps some special collection of renowned
personalities like Mian Bashir Ahmed, Kh. Manzoor, Atta Ullah Kaleem, Safdar
Mir, Dr. Naseer Ahmad Nasir etc. There is a special section of dissertations
for the researchers.Under an agreement the library is designated as depository
library of the Asian Development Bank. All the reports of A.D.B. are available
in physical as well as through computer search.
Publications:
Bi-monthly bulletins giving an account of recent additions
and information about library programs is issued regularly and distributed to
the members. It serves as a means of library publicity along with other
brochures or library journals. The research cell of the Library has also
published 86 research publications and some educational books for children of
lower classes.
Various Sections of the Library:
The Quaid-e-Azam Library is a repository of knowledge in
whatever formats. Library houses a wide range of audio-visual material which
include slides, motion pictures, audio and video cassettes, transparencies, films, CDs etc.
Different informative and educational programs are arranged
for the research scholars. Microfilms of old newspapers is an asset. The micro
films of Paisa Akhbar, Civil & Military Gazette, Comrade and eastern Times
etc. are a valuable collection.

Ladies Section:
The Ladies Section contains books on health care,
nutrition, cookery, education, home economics and Islamiyat. The ladies also
have a separate reading room in which newspapers and latest magazines are
supplied.
Oriental Section:
The top
gallery of the Jinnah Hall has been reserved for standard works of Islamiyat,
Tafseer, Ahadith and books on Seerat. The four corner rooms in the gallery are
used for study and browsing rooms for scholars. These are air-conditioned and
provided with easy chairs and sofa sets. The Urdu, Arabic and Persian Book
Sections are also located in the gallery.
Periodical Section:
The Periodical Section of the Library occupies a central
place. It has a rich collection of magazines and newspapers of different
countries and on different subjects. The library receives about 257 magazines
in English and 70 in Urdu language as well as 20 newspapers in English
including in (local and foreign) and 17 in Urdu.

is provided to the candidates of competitive examination especially on
Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs.
- Reference
services are provided to the students of different colleges/universities
in order to assist them in the preparation of their assignments/theses.
- Newspaper
clipping files on 40 important subjects/ topics have been maintained to
provide first-hand information on current national and international
affairs.
Reference Section:
The main portion of the library in the Jinnah Hall includes
the Reference Section. Study tables have been placed for the readers close to
the bookshelves. The entrance to this hall is from the Bagh-e-Jinnah side. The
Reference Section contains a collection of encyclopaedias, almanacs,
directories, dictionaries, yearbooks and atlases. Bibliographical assistance is
provided to initiate research.
Textbook Section;
For the benefit of students, special copies of textbooks
needed for medical and engineering and other subjects have been procured for
this section.
